 An improvement over the VF-25 model kitsMar 20, 2011

Note: This is a model kit of a transforming aircraft. It requires extensive assembly and is not intended for immature children. This is a product of Japan so expect no English translations.
The VF-27 Brera custom is a variable fighter from the Galaxy-27 Super Long Distance Emigration Fleet. It is one of the "hero" mechs of the series.
The kit itself requires the construction of a partial skeleton as well as extensive decal work. The kit itself comes with both water-slide and sticker decals. The instructions are pictorial so there is no need for reading the Japanese text.
The model kit requires several hours for assembly, more for proper cleaning and/or painting. The model requires plastic cement for certain portions, such as the knee joints and the wings. Other than that there is little else needed and the kit can be built right out of the box without extensive work. The parts fit very tightly, especially the shoulder swing joint. I had to use teflon grease to keep the swing joint from completely seizing up and breaking. Once completed , the model can be left in one of three configurations, fighter, gerwalk (Ground Effect ,Reverse Jointed walker) and Batteroid (robot) mode.
The most prominent mode is the fighter. The legs can be secured tightly thanks to tabs on the sides of the folding wings and the main body, as opposed to the VF-25 kits which had nothing to keep the legs from getting loose. The design of the fighter mode is reminiscent of the SR-71 Blackbird with its wing mounted engines. It is a sleek fighter that looks very much something you could watch flying through the air.

To start this off I'm not a fan or I don't even know what these toys are about but I purchased this one since it was suppose to be a christmas present for my nephew and he likes watching the shows where these toys came from but for crying out loud... nothing in the product description (the site page) ever told me that it would require EXTENSIVE assembly !! I feel like I was robbed out of this purchase, paying that much money for a toy that I have to assemble myself... I read all the info provided on the amazon webpage but no mention of assembly. Bad definately bad ALSO the assembly manual is written in JAPANESE !!!
